Emma Davis is a 24-year-old composer, soprano, and filmmaker from Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated in May 2023 from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota with degrees in Music Composition, Vocal Performance, and Media Production – Film. She studied composition under Dr. Joshua Bauder and voice under Carol Eikum. In addition to her compositional endeavors, she plans to pursue graduate degrees in Vocal Performance and Composition.

Most recently, Emma was accepted into the John Ness Beck Foundation’s 2023 Choral Composer’s Workshop hosted by Dr. Dan Forrest, Mr. Howard Helvey, and Dr. Jamie Hillman. She will travel to South Carolina in July and spend a week workshopping some of her most recent choral compositions with this prestigious panel of choral composers. Emma was also awarded as a finalist in Wright State University’s 2023 Silver Melted into Sound Composition Contest for her SATB choral piece entitled “Thou Art My Lute”, using the poem written by Paul Laurence Dunbar. 

The music of Emma Davis includes art song, choral music, musical theater, chamber music, instrumental music, and film score. When not composing, Emma is an award-winning soprano and film director.
